A few words about the church
The Agios Konstantinos and Eleni Church of the Greek Orthodox Community of Stavrodromi (Pera) is the second oldest in the area. It was built over a 5-year period, i.e. 1856-1861, by architect Konstantinos Karantzas and inaugurated on 9 April 1861. It is a domed cruciform basilica and has two characteristic belfries.
The church is dedicated to the founder of Constantinople, emperor Constantine the Great and his mother Helena and celebrates on 21 May every year. The church was fully refurbished and re-inaugurated on 21 May 1999.
The Guest House
In 2012 our Community carried out the renovation and redesign of the abandoned and desolate school of Agios Konstantinos. The building was transformed to a modern guest house with a significant accommodation capacity. The 16 rooms of the guest house are offered as low cost accommodation to visiting exchange programme students, researchers and teachers and in this way, the premises continue to serve education, although in a different way.
